College of Sports and Dance

The College of Sports and Dance consists of the Department of Sports and Health Sciences and the Department of Dance Art. The Department of Sports and Health Sciences runs various programs for students to acquire licenses such as the National Sports Instructor Certificate in order to nurture healthcare professionals through sports with the elderly, young children, and people with disabilities. This Department is also striving for the employment and career of students to spread the convergent abilities of sports values while cultivating entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, the Department of Dance Art strives to educate convergent dancers who will be able to provide holistic dance literacy in each stage of the lifecycle from infancy to old age, not only professional education in performance arts. To do so, this Department is running various curriculum and career training programs for students to acquire the National Culture and Arts Educator Certificate.

The Department of Dance Art is striving to become a mecca of professional dancers who have the creative competence and human character to contribute to their community and the world and spread the values of dance in various fields such as arts and education, welfare and leisure, art therapy, etc.

Department of Sports and Health Sciences

The Department of Sports and Health Sciences aims to develop leaders who can prescribe and instruct exercise programs as well as give counseling and education on stress management, rational nutritional intake, and physical injuries, by researching scientific and systematic knowledge pertaining to healthcare.

Department of Dance Art

Since its establishment in 1996, the Department of Dance Art in the Sangmyung University College of Sports has produced dance professionals in various fields for the last 20 years such as professors and teachers, professional dancers and choreographers, musical choreographers, performance planners and art administrators, culture and art businesspeople, as well as fitness specialists. It has a professional, diversified curriculum to nurture convergent and creative dance professionals needed by the present era and society to lead the specialization and popularization of dance. Especially, the various Career Development Roadmaps (CDR) of the dance major provide a professional education of performance arts based on the fine arts dance of ballet, modern dance, and Korean dance. It also provides a systematic career education to expand career alternatives of dance in creative ways and spread the values of dance in various fields, such as dance education in elementary and middle school education, leisure and welfare, and community dance for art therapy.
