Sangmyung University’s Department of Food Service Nutrition and Clothing was newly launched to nurture human resources with convergent and complex thinking who can lead and meet the changing era in the field of living culture industry. In the Department of Food Nutrition, students acquire various kinds of professional knowledge and theories ranging from dining management, nutrition science, and food science, to culinary art. This Department aims to raise the experts of each field by helping students acquire the qualifications of practical technicians and managers through practicums in the culinary art and dining industries.
In the Department of Clothing, students learn various aspects of professional knowledge pertaining to fashion item planning, design, patterns, production, and marketing to become global fashion human resources based on practical education through industry-academy-research education, research, and internships in the fashion industry.
In this Department, students will become the experts of each field by acquiring various professional knowledge and theories on dining management, nutritional science, food science, and culinary art and by developing the qualifications as practical technicians and managers through practicums in the culinary art and dining industries.
The educational objective of this Department is to nurture creative human resources who understand the aesthetic and functional aspects of clothes in the global fashion market and have aesthetic sense, scientific knowledge, and a business mind. The detailed objectives are as follows:
- Nurture professional human resources who can quickly understand the changes of the fashion industry and effectively adjust to the digital contents of the fashion industry.
- Nurture human resources who can create new styles with integrative thinking of fashion design, composition, materials, and marketing.
- Develop and run the curriculum of industry-academy cooperation to nurture human resources who can respond actively to globalization by building practical skills and cultivating emotional and technical communication and marketing abilities for the global fashion business.
- Nurture human resources who can scientifically analyze and develop the emotional aspects of fashion based on the understanding of interactions among humans, clothes, and the environment.
