한국 현대 문학에서 가장 중요한 시기에 해당하는 식민지 시대의 대표적인 단편소설들을 읽고 토론하는 한편 이와 관련된 소설 이론 강의를 수강함으로써, 한국근대소설사의 전체 윤곽을 파악하고 소설에 대한 올바른 감상과 과학적인 분석을 가능하게 한다. 나아가서는 이러한 지식을 바탕으로 교육현장에서 한국현대소설을 효과적으로 지도할 수 있는 교수-학습 방안을 모색한다.

By reading and discussing representative Korean fiction and learning the theory related to this, it would be comprehended the whole outline of Korean fiction and to perform proper appreciation and scientific analysis about fiction. Furthermore, on the basis of this knowledge, the teaching and learning method to instruct Korean fiction effectively in the educational field would be searched.
