중환자란 실제적 혹은 잠재적인 건강문제가 생명을 위협할 정도로 위험성이 큰 환자를 말한다. 중환자 간호는 의료기관의 중환자 간호를 위한 다양한 간호중재를 익힌다. 응급상황 대처, 생명유지 간호, 무의식환자 간호 등의 원리와 방법을 습득하고 실제에서 수행할 수 있는 능력을 기른다. 또한 각종 생명유지 장치와 기구에 대해서는 익힌다.

Critically ill refers to those patients whose actual or potential health problems are life-threatening. Intensive care nursing is taught various nursing interventions for critical care nursing at medical institutions and learn the principles and methods of coping with emergencies, life-sustaining nursing, and unconscious patient care, and develop the ability to perform in practice. Also learn about life support devices and instruments.
