오픈소스 기반 소프트웨어는 최근 들어 지리정보시스템, 원격탐사, 시각화, 공간통계 등 여러 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 본 과목은 수강생의 QGIS, GRASS GIS, R, Geoda 등 오픈소스 소프트웨어 이해 증진과 활용 능력의 배양을 목표로 한다.

Open source softwares are widely utilized in various domains such as geographic information system, remote sensing, visualization, and spatial statistics. This course will introduce QGIS, GRASS GIS, R and Geoda and focus on boosting up the students' practical proficiency of using the softwares.
