정부기관 뿐만 아니라 민간에서 생산되는 통계자료의 양적 증가가 이루어지면서 최근 빅데이터에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 특히 이러한 통계자료의 대부분은 위치와 속성정보를 포함한 공간통계자료로 제작된다. 본 과목은 이러한 공간자료의 통계적 분석을 위해 기초 통계분석과 공간통계의 주요 개념과 분석 기법을 소개한다. 그리고 오픈소스 기반 툴인 R과 GeoDa 등에 기반한 실습을 통해 수강생들이 정형 또는 비정형의 빅데이터 자료의 공간통계 분석을 수행할 수 있는 능력을 겸비하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

Big Data has been recently spotted with the increase of amount in statistical data, produced by public and private sectors. Particularly, most data are generated as spatial statistics data with the information of location and attributes. This course introduces principal concepts and analysis techniques in basic statistical analysis and spatial statistics. In its lab course, open-source tools such as R and GeoDa will be utilized for students to improve the competency of spatial statistics analysis with formal and non-formal big data.
