A Makerspace of Sangmyung University Swept 2022 Makerspace Festival

  The 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival was held from December 21st to 22nd, 2022. At the “2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival,” a maker belonging to Sangmyung University’s Makerspace Business Group won the grand prize and the excellence award. Sangmyung University’s Maker Space Project Group achieved the feat of producing the most outstanding makers in the Chungcheong region. In this article, I will cover the introduction of the 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival. 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival Introduction

  The 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival was held at Splas Resom located in Deoksan-myeon, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. The 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival was held to contribute to the spread of maker culture through sharing of achievements derived from the operation of Makerspace. In addition, the 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival was held for the purpose of operating programs and strengthening networks between participants through connection with general labs. The 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival is designed to support start-up institutions and programs and performance sharing to improve Makerspace performance. The 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival was successfully completed with more than 200 people attending, including the general public, prospective entrepreneurs, early entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs.


  In addition, the 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival was hosted by Hoseo University’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Group, Hoseo University’s LINC 3.0 Project Group, Gongju University’s Ejitda Maker, Baekseok Culture University’s Baekseok Makers, Sangmyung University's Ddingjak Studio, Soonchunhyang University's Sharing BCPF Content School, and Chungnam Maker Cooperative’s Eoulim Creation Center.

In addition, the Chungnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, the Chungcheongnam-do Economic Promotion Agency, the Chungnam Creative Economy Innovation Center, and the Chungnam Social Economy Network participated.


  First of all, on the 21st, the first day of the 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival, the opening ceremony, introduction of participating organizations, introduction of projects by institutions, and the Chungcheong area MAKE4U event were held. In addition, lectures invited by investment institutions for founder scale-up, investment counseling conducted at the Chungnam Creative Economy Innovation Center, introduction of general labs and presentation of best practices, and meetings with joint organizations were held. 

  On the 22nd, the second day of the 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival, a meeting of working-level officials of the Chungcheong Makerspace Council, an award ceremony, and a closing ceremony (live broadcast) were held.


Introduction and Award Details of Sangmyung University’s Makerspace Business Group, “Ddingjak Studio”

  At the 2022 Chungcheong Makerspace Festival, which was divided into general rap and excellent maker categories, Sangmyung University's makerspace business group, Lim Hyo-young of the “Ho-Gi” team won the grand prize, while Kim Moon-jin and Son Seok-hwan of the “Dodam” team and Chae Min-ji of the “Chae Min-ji” team won the excellence award. Ddingjak Studio, a maker space business group at Sangmyung University, has produced the most outstanding makers.


  Lim Hyo-young of the “Ho Gi” team, who won the grand prize for suggesting a portable neck pillow as a creative idea, said, “The Ddingjak Studio, a maker space business group, is equipped with good equipment and has a pleasant environment to make prototypes safely and fun. Above all, education that can combine design elements with prototypes to increase completeness was the most helpful.”


  Professor Kim Hee-kyun, head of the Makerspace Business at Sangmyung University, said, “Sangmyung University was selected as the general lab director of the Maker Space construction and operation project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2019 and is working with various aspects of education for makers to support prototyping, upgrade, and commercialization of prototypes.” He also said, “Sangmyung University’s Ddingjak Studio will do its best to contribute to the spread of the social base of maker culture by realizing making through makers' experiences and sharing as well as connecting with startups.”


  Sangmyung University Makerspace Business Group, “Ddingjak studio”, is located on the first floor of Sangmyung University Cheonan Campus Design Center.

The naming of Ddingjak Studio, a maker space business group at Sangmyung University, is a combination of thinking and masterpiece, and contains the operating philosophy of creating excellent masterpieces with creative thinking. Sangmyung University’s Ddingjak Studio was created to realize all the ideas imagined for the 48,500 college students, young people, and the general public in Cheonan. Sangmyung University's maker space business group, “Ddingjak Studio,” provides a variety of equipment and special education as a space that anyone can visit.

  Sangmyung University’s maker space business group, “Ddingjak Studio,” is equipped with various kinds of equipment such as CNC, 3D printers, laser cutting machines, and electric kilns that can produce 2D and 3D prototypes through cutting and imprinting work such as acrylic, wood, and Formax. In addition, it supports equipment use education, rental, and manufacturers to share their experiences and knowledge, focusing on strengthening basic design making capabilities.
